This week we had the opportunity to interview Danelle Bybee – Building Healthy Military Communities State Coordinator in Minnesota, and Major Marian Belinski – State Family Programs Director, Minnesota National Guard. We discussed the progress of the BHMC pilot and the ways the program is working to assist service members and their families in MN.

Danelle Bybee is the Minnesota State Coordinator for Building Healthy Military Communities. Danelle grew up in Pillager, MN, the geographical center of Minnesota, located at the north end of Camp Ripley. Danelle joined the Army in 1988, served Active Duty Army for 3 years in Germany as an 88M (Truck Driver) and 8 years with the MN Army National Guard, TX Army National Guard and PA Army National Guard. While serving in the MN ARNG, Danelle was an instructor at the Regional Training Site-Maintenance for 92A-Automated Logistical Specialist, 92Y-Unit Supply Specialist and 63B-Light Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic. Danelle also worked at the Ammunition Supply Point and United States Property and Fiscal Office. While serving in the TX ARNG, Danelle worked at North Fort Hood with the Bradley Recovery Team. Danelle got out of the National Guard in 1999 as an E-6/Staff Sergeant.

Maj. Marian Belinski serves as the State Family Programs Director for the Minnesota National Guard, helping Military Families with daily challenges, such as finances, education, employment and other challenges that come with deployment and service.  Family Programs does this by connecting family’s needs with local, state and federal resources.  Maj. Belinski coordinates with Military volunteers such as Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), train the Family Readiness Groups throughout the state of MN, collaborates with the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Networks throughout the state and work directly with the MN Teen Panel and host both the Teen Leadership Forum and the MN Teen Summit.
