This week we had the opportunity to interview Rick Tyler, Building Healthy Military Communities State Coordinator in Mississippi.
Rick’s background makes him uniquely qualified to be a state coordinator for Building Healthy Military Communities. Although Rick’s professional experience is from outside the military, he brings to the table much useful experience, along with a fresh perspective on the issues facing service members. He spent a decade working with radio stations in Huntsville, Alabama and Nashville, Tennessee, managing their station promotions. During that time he learned how to develop, organize and implement large-scale events. He also spent several years in human resources and employment security. By using his event planning skills and job placement experience, Rick hopes to make a difference in the lives of Service members, Veterans and Families in Mississippi. He sees this as his opportunity to give back, to help those who help our nation. He places great importance on assisting the military and their families, as he has family members that fought in World War II and Korea, and a brother currently serving in the National Guard.
