Since today is National Day of the Deployed, we would like to say THANK YOU to all the brave service members across the globe who are deployed, defending our country.
In honor of today, we would like to share a program that was launched in partnership with the Department of Defense and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and its mission to help U.S. deployed troops.
Deployed War-Fighter Protection (DWFP) program
Initiated by DoD in 2004 and partnering with USDA, the DWFP program was established with the mission to “develop and test management tools for pest and vector species that transmit diseases to deployed U.S. troops.”
USDA scientists developed an effective clothing repellent from mosquitoes and arthropods that today’s service member’s uniforms are treated with.
