About this Webinar:
In this webinar, participants examine the relationship between self-awareness, knowledge of others, and culturally alert interventions. The facilitators challenge participants to recognize the influence of intersecting identities on themselves and their clients and introduce strategies for gaining self and other awareness, including the RESPECT Model and Broaching. The facilitators provide strategies to address powerlessness among clients who are marginalized and ways to engage in advocacy.

Presenter Information
Dr. Tammi Dice is Associate Dean of Undergraduate Education in the Darden College of Education at Old Dominion University. She is a member of the National Organization of Human Services and currently serves as President of the organization. Dr. Dice’s research interests include positive youth development, adult development and learning, multicultural competence and ethical practices in human services. She has published over 30 refereed journal articles and book chapters and presented over 50 national presentations.
Mr. Robert “Tony” Dice is currently a 2nd-year doctoral student at Old Dominion University and works as a Mental Health Director at EVMS’s Ambulatory Care Center in Norfolk, VA. His checkered past includes: Firefighter (Klamath River Fire Department); Medic (Northern Siskiyou Ambulance); SEAL (U.S. Navy); Presidential Security Detail Team Lead (U.S. State Dept/DynCorp); Security/Logistics Manager (Seismic Sciences); Iraqi Special Forces Instructor (U.S. State Dept/USIS); VBSS Team Lead Instructor (Linxx Global); Tweeker (Semi-pro, 7years AA/NA); Intern (Seton House, Lynnhaven Treatment Center, Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center); Therapist (The Farley Center); Undergraduate in Human Services and Master’s student in Counseling (Old Dominion University). His research interests address Substance Abuse, LGBTQAP, and PTSD.
