This free webinar is the second session of a 2-part series hosted by OneOp Family Transitions, Family Development, Military Caregiving, and Nutrition and Wellness.

The MFLN’s Family Development, Family Transitions, Military Caregiving, and Nutrition & Wellness offer this collaborative two-part webinar on chronic illness for military family service professionals. During Part 2, participants will explore ways to help military families harness resources, utilize resilience, and provide support to promote effective management of chronic illness. Participants will engage in case study discussions to identify and assess the family development, transitions, caregiving, and nutrition/wellness perspectives of chronic illness issues within military families. Strategies, tools and resources will be shared.

Objectives

Participants will promote effective management of chronic illness with military families by:

  • Understanding ways to harness resources.
  • Identifying strategies to utilize resilience.
  • Discussing techniques to provide support.

Presenter

Tai J. Mendenhall, Ph.D., LMFT  is a Medical Family Therapist and Associate Professor in the Couple and Family Therapy Program at the University of Minnesota (UMN) in the Department of Family Social Science. He is an adjunct professor in the UMN’s Department of Family Medicine & Community Health, an Associate Director of the UMN’s Citizen Professional Center, and the Director of the UMN’s Medical Reserve Corps’ Mental Health Disaster-Response Teams.  He works actively in the conduct of integrated behavioral healthcare and community-based participatory research (CBPR) focused on a variety of public health issues.
