The DASH Diet (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) was ranked by US News & World Report #1 best diet for 8 years in a row and in came in #2 in 2019. The DASH diet is a balanced diet filled with fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein. This diet includes a healthy, flexible eating pattern which has been proven to lower blood pressure.
This webinar will provide information about what the DASH Diet is, the research that supports it, who should consider adopting it, and how the DASH Diet principles can be incorporated into a healthy lifestyle.
Objectives
After this presentation, the attendee should be able to:
- Locate references about the DASH clinical trials and other references about diet and high blood pressure
- Present the dietary pattern of the DASH Diet to both patients and colleagues
- Explain the new high blood pressure guidelines to patients in the context of other risk factors
- Help patients set goals that work toward adopting a DASH
