Self-care is an important issue for caregivers and helping professionals. A 2015 study conducted by the National Alliance for Caregiving and the AARP Public Policy Institute found that 35% of the caregivers who provide at least 21 hours of unpaid care each week want to have conversations with helping professionals about self-care and that in many cases these conversations are not taking place.
