Kacy Mixon, PhD, LMFT

Kacy Mixon serves as Project Consultant for OneOp Family Development team, a US Department of Defense grant initiative focused on producing online professional development for service professionals working within the Military Family Readiness System.

She was previously an Assistant Professor in the College of Education and Human Services at Valdosta State University and taught graduate courses. Kacy received her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Florida. As a licensed marriage and family therapist, she has provided mental health services in both community and in-home settings. Kacy has also served as a clinical consultant/evaluator in the family, domestic violence, and juvenile court arenas. She currently specializes in the areas of family violence, psychological trauma, military family transitions/quality of life, resilience, and adult learning. Kacy has been the recipient of honors such as the Chi Sigma Iota Leadership Fellowship and has presented at various regional, national, and international conferences.

In addition to MFLN, Kacy has worked on several grants focused on children and families; most notably was the Safe Start project, a joint research endeavor by RAND Corporation and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), which funded treatment programs aimed at reducing negative impacts of violence on children. Her past publications/research focused on marginalized child populations and promoting inclusive school environments to help children thrive.
