In this episode, we are joined by Terri Rudy and Dr. Daniel Perkins of the Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness to discuss promoting positive tech use for families, children, and teens. Terri and Danny join us for a conversation on their Digital Empowerment Resource for Parents and Professionals. This free online kit is a resource intended to offer support and to help educate children and youth about what it means to be a good digital citizen and to empower them to participate safely, responsibly, and respectfully in the virtual world.
Dr. Daniel Perkins is the Principal Scientist and Founder of the Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness at Penn State. He is also a Professor of Family and Youth Resiliency and Policy, and a faculty member of the Prevention Research Center for the Promotion of Human Development. Dr. Perkins’ scholarship involves the integration of practice and research into three major foci: Positive youth development; healthy family development; and community collaboration.
Terri Rudy is a Research and Evaluation Associate at the Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness, and the Project Manager for the Resource Center for Improving Family Health Behaviors. Terri has been a part of the Clearinghouse since 2012 and currently manages the outreach and communication efforts for several applied social science research projects, including the Digital Empowerment Resource.
