In a previous blog, we highlighted the recent Executive Branch memorandums that are affecting federally employed military spouses, specifically regarding remote work. The BLUF: military spouses in federal positions working remotely were mandated to return to the office alongside others in the federal workforce, then were exempted from the mandate. Other military spouses were let go in government layoffs. Both groups of spouses are navigating sudden shifts in daily routines and/or positions.

Given the recent increase of uncertainty surrounding career opportunities and/or job security in federal employment, several organizations in support of military spouses are offering tailored, timely resources. Such offerings are responsive to the unique environment which current military spouses find themselves in. It may be challenging for providers to try to stay on top of an ever-evolving target and keep track of what resources are best suited to the needs of the military spouses you are supporting. So here are some of the latest offerings you can add to your resource list:

SECO (Spouse Education & Career Opportunities) is now offering a new career interruptions coaching package providing one-on-one support for federally employed military spouses who have been impacted by recent workforce actions. Resources within this package include support in re-languaging a federal resume to fit the private sector, how to leverage skill development sources, and identifying alternative career opportunities. Military spouses can access this support by calling the SECO Career Center at 800-342-9647 or accessing it online here.
