About This Webinar

This webinar highlights the challenges faced by military spouses in the workforce. Currently, military spouses are unemployed at a rate more than five times higher than the national average (21% Active Duty Spouse Survey, compared to 4% Bureau of Labor Statistics). Additionally, those who are employed earn approximately 38% less than their civilian counterparts (Defense Personnel Analytics Center). Efforts at both local and national levels are actively addressing this issue, aiming to connect employers with skilled and reliable military spouses.

Military spouses play a vital role in this process by advocating for themselves and others, becoming informed and passionate champions for their presence in the workforce. This session will leverage the latest research and expert insights from human resources professionals, empowering military service providers to equip military spouses with practical strategies and the confidence needed to successfully navigate the workforce.

Learning Objectives:

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the current landscape of military spouse employment.
  • Explore the human resources function and acquire tips for successfully navigating it as both an applicant and an employee.
  • Utilize practical tools to effectively communicate with and educate employers about the challenges and opportunities related to military spouse employment.
  • Find inspiration to continue advocating for the personal and societal importance of expanding career opportunities for military spouses across all branches of service.
