About This Webinar
An understanding of professional boundaries is crucial for helping professionals in the military and in other contexts. An appreciation for boundaries helps professionals in their interactions with clients, in working with other professionals, and in identifying and preserving a sense of professional identity and role in their work. In this webinar, Dr. Kim Finney of the University of Southern California shares with us insights on this important and complex topic.

Dr. Finney is a board certified clinical psychologist and clinical associate professor and focuses on mental health in military and police officers. A retired U.S. Air Force officer, Finney’s final assignment was flight commander of the mental health clinic at Los Angeles Air Force Base, where she was responsible for the delivery of mental health services, family advocacy and substance abuse services to the 8,300 beneficiaries served by the clinic. Finney entered the Air Force in 1989 as a laboratory officer and was assigned to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. Following several assignments as an Air Force psychologist, she was selected Field Grade Psychologist of the Year for 2003 by Air Force Space Command. In 2004, she received a fellowship in psychopharmacology and later earned her post-doctoral master’s degree in psychopharmacology from Nova Southeastern University. She was one of only four Air Force psychologists and one of approximately 150 psychologists nationwide who were credentialed to prescribe medications. Over the course of her service, Finney has served as director of mental health services, a flight commander and Air Force Space Command mental health consultant. Among her many honors are the prestigious Tri-Service Admiral Zumwalt Award for Community Leadership and a National Defense Service Medal with one bronze service star.
