Moving Toward Inclusive Practice – Asking Questions

December 2, 2019 @ 6:00 am CST

Anne Phibbs podcast

About this Episode

How do we as helping professionals ask questions when we don’t always get information back from people that may be relevant to helping others in a cultural context?  In this episode we hear how if we don’t ask everyone the question, we may be missing someone and may be missing how we can serve them. Anne Phibbs gives the listener examples of when a well-placed question can go a long way, and in the questioning we can create inclusion.

As you listen to this episode, “Asking Questions” think about the following:

Why do we get scared to ask questions?

What is best practice when we check in with someone?

What is magic thinking?

Are helping professionals able to tell a well-meaning question from one with judgment behind it?
