2020 has been a challenging year for us all. A U.S. election year, a year filled with protests and calls for societal changes, and a year that will be remembered due to the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic. In our OneOp blog posts, we strive to get resources and topics out there for professionals to utilize with clients and families, especially in these trying times. That is why our guest blog series featuring C.C. Gallagher has been popular and stayed relevant since the first post back in December of 2019.
For those of you who don’t know by now, C.C. first collaborated with OneOp as a guest panelist during our 2019 Relationships for Readiness Virtual Conference opening session. In The Family Readiness System and You, she spoke to her experience as a mother, spouse, and entrepreneur in a military family. She also joined us for an episode of our Anchored Podcast Series, Supporting Military Spouses with Employment and Higher Education Transitions, and discussed how her life as a military spouse and mother to military children has influenced her professional employment evolution into an entrepreneur and small business owner. For more on C.C., visit her bio page for her background and info about Military Quality of Life Consulting, LLC.
In this blog post, we wanted to give a one-stop-shop to the blog series featuring C.C. Gallagher with a bit of a recap of each of her blog posts from the past year.
- In this first post from December 2019 entitled “Celebrating the Holidays When You Live Away from Immediate Family,” C.C. shared ways for military families to connect with extended families. C.C. also shared the possibility of meeting virtually via Zoom, Skype, etc. before that became the new norm during 2020.
- Her next post was in April 2020 for the Month of the Military Child. “Useful Resources for Our Military Children” highlighted many statistics about active-duty military children. This included that the largest percentage of military children are 0 to 5 years old and that the average military child will move six to nine times during a school career.
- The third post was in mid-July 2020 and provided useful resources and tips for military spouses. She highlighted ten tips to help military spouses prepare for the next step in their professional journeys. The link to that blog post is here: “Place “Job Search” on Your PCS Checklist.”
- Finally, her most recent post was in November 2020 and focused on November being the Month of the Military Family. In “Celebrating our Military Families: Month of the Military Family,” C.C. shared ways to support military families including sending care packages, donate, and connect with a military family support center.
With that being said, we want to thank C.C. for contributing to our OneOp posts! Stay tuned for more potential guest contributions from her in 2021. For access to all OneOp blog posts, see a list of all our blog posts here. Thanks so much for tuning in and making 2020 a banner year for OneOp!
