This session outlines the various school-based changes that may occur over time for students and their families. The transitions between schools, communities, and adulthood all have unique challenges. This session provides strategies to assist with varying transitions and how collaboration is critical throughout the transition for decreased service disruption.
Presenter
Kary Zarate, Ph.D. is a teaching assistant professor in Special Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Through her teaching and research, Kary’s work centers on improving educational outcomes for students with significant emotional, behavioral, and cognitive needs through personnel preparation. Kary believes in breaking down barriers for all learners and works diligently to dismantle systems of oppression.
