Financial Planning for Transition: Train-the-Trainer

About This Webinar:
The transition from military to civilian life can be challenging in many of ways, especially financially. In this webinar, the Department of Defense Office of Financial Readiness and the Military to Civilian Transition Office will conduct a train-the-trainer session on using the department’s Financial Planning for Transition curriculum. Presenters will introduce participants to a variety of strategies, tools, and benefits for making the financial military-to-civilian transition a smooth one.
Presenters:
Melinda Manyx, Program Manager from Military-Civilian Transition Office (MCTO)
Melinda Manyx serves as the Policy and Curriculum Operations and Support Specialist for the Military-Civilian Transition Office (MCTO), where she manages all aspects of the Transition Assistance Program (TAP) curriculum, including development, design, and implementation of the Defense Department’s courses related to TAP. Her duties include extensive collaboration with the Department of Labor, Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Education, Department of Homeland Security, Office of Personnel Management, Small Business Administration, all military branches, as well as other federal and non-federal entities who have a vested interest in the Transition Assistance Program. Ms. Manyx reviews legislation and statue for areas that may affect TAP, collaborates with the interagency partners on implementing new legislation, and responds to questions from members of Congress.
Beth Darius, Program Analyst from Office of Financial Readiness
Beth Darius joined the DoD Office of Financial Readiness in June 2020 and is responsible for oversight of training and curriculum. Previously, she served at Air Force Headquarters developing the Air Forces’ Personal Financial Readiness (PFR) Program. Ms. Darius also worked as a contractor providing financial counseling and education at Joint Base Charleston and as an educational services facilitator, providing training and support in a variety of areas at Naval Submarine Base New London. Beth is an Accredited Financial Counselor® and holds master’s degrees in education from the University of Phoenix and Old Dominion University.
