About This Webinar

Military service providers often serve as a critical link in helping families and caregivers navigate complex benefit systems. This webinar offers a focused look at Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI), specifically in the context of military-connected populations. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of eligibility criteria, application processes, and how SSDI and SSI interact with other benefit options. The session will also address considerations for caregivers supporting wounded warriors, veterans with disabilities, or dependent family members with special needs. Real-world scenarios and tools will be shared to help providers effectively guide military families through these federal disability benefit systems.

Learning Objectives:

  • Differentiate between SSDI and SSI, including key eligibility requirements and benefit structures.
  • Identify how SSDI and SSI intersect with other benefit options.
  • Recognize the unique challenges and opportunities caregivers may encounter when supporting military-connected individuals applying for disability benefits.
  • Apply strategies and resources to assist military families in navigating the Social Security disability processes.
  • Locate and utilize tools, agencies, and referrals to support service delivery and coordination of benefits for military-connected caregivers.
