Though clinicians receive general or initial training in work with children, not many feel confident in this work if they have not primarily (or recently) worked with children in their professional positions. This webinar is for professionals seeking to build confidence in working with children, particularly for adult-focused/Family Advocacy Program (FAP) staff who may be less familiar with the current clinical needs of children. The discussion will focus on developing key skills for professionals who may work with children.
While it is not required for clinicians to be ‘certified play therapists’ to work with children, it is helpful to feel confident when approaching work with children or youth. This session will explore how to increase clinical confidence using creative approaches when interacting and working with children and youth, ages 4 to 12.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the socio-emotional needs of children and youth present in this age group using a creative lens.
- Define key emotions that children and youth in this age group experience when they are dysregulated.
- Learn about ways to co-regulate with children and youth in this age group.
