According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about half of all adults in 2012 had one or more chronic health condition. Further statistics show that one in four adults had two or more chronic health conditions. These alarming numbers reflect the need for conversation and support surrounding chronic illness. While many only consider the physical impacts of chronic illness, the psychological component can be just as strong. This podcast explores common stressors associated with chronic illness, address harmful myths and stigmas associated with individuals and families struggling with chronic illness, and discuss helpful ways to support those affected.

Kacy Mixon, PhD, LMFT is the project director for the Family Development Team of OneOp. She is an assistant professor in the Psychology, Counseling, and Family Therapy department at Valdosta State University.
Kimberly Griner is a certified yoga instructor in Valdosta, GA. She is a hard working mother and grandmother who gives us a chance to be enlightened by her personal journey with chronic illness.
