This is the second of 5 podcasts in a learning experience (learn more and subscribe) focusing on using elements of the Working Out Loud process, positive psychology, behavioral science and more to build social support networks to improve our resilience.
This episode focuses on relationships. Relationship building isn’t always easy, and developing meaningful relationships takes time and patience. So let’s get started.
This week, we are creating our relationship list. See if you can get at least 5 and as many as 10 people added to your relationship list. We are looking for people related to the purpose(s) we identified last week. These could be people who share our purpose, but also people who could support us in pursuing it. Look for people you might be able to learn from, converse with or lean on.
Here are a few other things to consider:
You might start with authors, speakers, community leaders or others you admire. These people are often accessible to us through social media.
Play Internet detective, search for people blogging or tweeting about things related to your purpose
If you can’t find names, use titles or descriptors like “Someone who knows about the thing I care about” or “Someone who has done what I would like to do.” You can track down specific people later.
Not everyone you find will make your list, and not everyone on your list will become a part of your network, but this is the next small step in building your network for resilience.
We want to hear from you, and for you to hear from others who are sharing this learning experience, so we have created several spaces for you to discuss and reflect on this experience, and to share your progress.
