Thrive Series

OneOp is excited about the ongoing Thrive Series! This series includes an Anchored podcast episode to introduce the Thrive Initiative, as well as webinars highlighting the first three parenting programs.

Thrive Initiative

The Thrive Initiative is a continuum of parenting programs born out of a partnership between The Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness at Penn State and the Department of Defense’s Office of Military Community and Family Policy. Programs are designed for parents of children from birth to 18 years of age.

Podcast

We kicked off the series with a podcast episode, “An Overview of the Thrive Initiative!”  that introduces our presenters, Terri Rudy and Dr. Ryan Chesnut, who are both with the Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness at Penn State. Terri and Ryan are involved with the development and implementation of programs and projects focused on promoting health among military families, including programs that fall within the Thrive Initiative.

Webinars

We hosted two webinars in this series so far: “Supporting Families during the Early Childhood Years: An Overview of the Take Root and Sprout Parenting Programs,” and “Supporting Families during the Elementary School Years: An Overview of the Grow Parenting Programs.” These webinars focused on the Thrive Initiative’s first three programs: Take Root, Sprout, and Grow.

In the following webinar, “An Overview of the Branch Out Parenting Program and Other Thrive Resources,” Terri Rudy and Dr. Ryan Chesnut join us to share all the info they have on the upcoming Branch Out project that will provide resources for parents of adolescents (age 10-14) and teenagers (age 15-18).
