Hey there Anchored podcast listeners! 2021 was a great year for our Anchored podcast series. For those of you who don’t know, Anchored is a professional development podcast series brought to you by OneOp. In this series, we wanted to provide a space to not only learn about timely topics faced by military families but also explore accessible resources and organizations that support military service members and their families.

In this week’s blog post, we wanted to share a brief recap of the episodes from this past year. We’ve covered some unique and varied topics that tie in with several of the webinar series that we’ve hosted over the past year. Shared below are brief snapshots of each episode of 2021, along with the links to the respective recordings. So, with that in mind, sit back, relax, and get Anchored with us!

In our first Anchored podcast episode of last year, we were joined by Terri Rudy and Dr. Daniel Perkins from the Thrive Initiative. Terri and Danny joined us to share their latest project, the Digital Empowerment Resource for Parents and Professionals. The Thrive Initiative is a program within the Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness at Penn State, which provides programs and services to military families.

This episode provides an overview of traumatic brain injury, including the signs and symptoms to look for, and an intro to the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence. We were joined by Kristen Benson and Courtney Sadler, Regional Education Coordinators for the TBICoE of the Defense Health Agency. We discussed how TBI affects military families, spouses, and children when a family member is affected by a TBI. Finally, we talk about resources provided by TBICoE in their work to better support caregivers of those impacted by TBI as well as service providers working with families affected by TBI.

Finally, we wrapped up our year with Sesame Street for Military Families discussing temporary duty assignments. We talked with Tara Wright, Senior Content Manager in the U.S. Social Impact department at Sesame Workshop, about the 15-year anniversary of SS4MF and the array of SS4MF topics and resources they provide for military families and children.

Also noteworthy, we want to announce that OneOp will not be continuing with traditional Anchored podcast episodes starting in 2022. We will be providing informative audio content moving forward but will no longer provide Continuing Education Credits for this content. CE Credits will still be available for our most current Anchored podcast episodes for the foreseeable future. Thanks for being an Anchored podcast listener and we’ll see you throughout 2022!
