About This Webinar:
Registered dietitians are at the forefront of recognizing, diagnosing, and treating malnutrition in inpatient care. This is accomplished through appropriate screening, assessment (including the nutrition-focused physical exam), documentation, and providing nutrition interventions. This webinar provides information and tools to help with screening and assessing malnutrition in adults to identify those at risk.
Learning Objectives:
1. Discuss the prevalence and identification of malnourished patients in clinical populations. 2. Discuss the registered dietitian’s role in the prevention and treatment of malnourished patients. 3. Apply the AND-ASPEN malnutrition criteria to patients in a clinical setting using case studies.
4. Identify key components of the Nutrition-Focused Physical Exam and perceived barriers in its utilization.

Julia is an inpatient clinical dietitian with six years of experience at two level 1 trauma centers in North Carolina. She has gained significant experience and training in the nutrition-focused physical exam and its application to malnutrition diagnoses. She has also developed a hands-on training experience and competency for a 40-dietitian department.
