Family Finances Series
About This Series
Managing finances while raising a family is difficult enough. Families facing the stress that comes with separation, divorce, or deployment can become overwhelmed by the accompanying financial changes of these circumstances. The Personal Finance and Family Development teams hosted a 3-part webinar series on Family Finances in 2018. Each of these webinars tackled the financial and emotional hurdles presented by changes in family structure.
Dr. O’Neill will talk about preparing for the inevitable circumstances that life throws our way. Divorce, untimely death, health crises, marriage, remarriage, widowhood, home-buying, and retirement take a tremendous toll on finances. Dr. O’Neill will talk about savings and insurance as protective barriers against the financial distress these events can cause.
Neale Godfrey will discuss the importance of raising financially responsible children and offer guidance for teaching financial responsibility to children in this interactive learning opportunity to include quizzes to determine financial management style.
In this podcast, Molly Herndon interviews Dr. Barbara O’Neill. Dr. O’Neill continues the discussion from our August 28 webinar, Family Finances Series: Financial Planning for Life Events, including financial planning throughout the lifecycle, finances and cohabitation, finances and marriage, and smart steps to take when buying a car.
In this episode of the MoneyTalk with OneOp Personal Finance podcast series, Dr. Barbara O’Neill and Molly Herndon discuss the November 27 webinar from the Family Finances Series: Raising Financially Responsible Children.
