About This Webinar

Disordered eating is increasingly recognized as a critical mental health issue impacting family members of the military community. Disordered eating can jeopardize both physical and mental well-being. Yet, these conditions often go unscreened and unaddressed. This session will examine the role that counselors, social workers, and other health professionals have in supporting military-connected clients exhibiting disordered eating.

Attendees of this session will gain a deeper understanding of factors (both military-specific factors and general factors) contributing to eating disturbances in military families. The webinar will also provide practical strategies and resources to identify, address, and support military family members experiencing unhealthy eating patterns.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define and recognize disordered eating trends amongst military-connected populations
  • Understand the professional’s role in supporting and treating individuals with disordered eating
  • Identify benefits and resources available to service providers working with individuals experiencing maladaptive eating behaviors
